How Depop Fees Work in 2026

Depop's fee structure is distinct among resale platforms. For US sellers with eligible USD listings, Depop does not charge a Depop Selling fee — meaning 0% platform fee on the seller's side. Instead, the primary cost is the payment processing fee of 3.3% plus $0.45 per transaction, applied to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping plus any applicable tax. Additionally, buyers pay a marketplace fee (estimated up to 5% + up to $1.00), which is separate and does not reduce the seller's payout. Optional boosted listings carry a 12% fee, charged only when a boosted item actually sells.

Depop Selling Fee

Depop does not charge a Depop Selling fee for US eligible sales in USD. This means 0% platform fee deducted from your payout. Sellers in other regions or selling in non-USD currencies may have different fee structures. Always verify your current rates on the Depop Help Center.

Depop Payment Processing Fee

The payment processing fee applies to every transaction and is paid by the seller. It is calculated as:

Payment Processing Fee = (Item Price + Buyer Shipping + Tax) × 3.3% + $0.45

For a $50 item with $5 buyer shipping and $0 tax: ($50 + $5 + $0) × 3.3% + $0.45 = $1.815 + $0.45 = $2.27

Note: buyer-paid shipping is included in the base because Depop processes the full payment including shipping.

Depop Marketplace Fee for Buyers

The Depop marketplace fee is paid by the buyer, not deducted from the seller's payout. It is estimated at up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1.00 fixed. The exact amount is shown at checkout and varies. In this calculator, the buyer marketplace fee is displayed for reference so you can see the full cost a buyer pays.

Important distinction: The buyer marketplace fee is not a seller cost. It is separate from the payment processing fee that Depop deducts from seller payouts. Sellers receive the item price minus payment processing (and optional boosting fee), regardless of the buyer marketplace fee amount.

Depop Boosted Listing Fee

Depop's boosted listings feature lets sellers pay to increase visibility. The boosting fee is 12% of the item price plus buyer shipping (UK/US markets). Key points:

  • The boosting fee is optional and off by default in this calculator
  • The fee is only charged when a boosted item sells — no charge for boosting without a sale
  • Boost base = item price + buyer-paid shipping (tax not included)
  • For a $50 sale with $5 buyer shipping: $55 × 12% = $6.60 boosting fee

Seller Payout vs Buyer Total Cost

Depop uses a dual-track model:

Seller Net Payout = Item Price + Buyer Shipping − Payment Processing − Boosting Fee (if boosted) − Seller Shipping Cost

Buyer Total Cost = Item Price + Buyer Shipping + Tax + Buyer Marketplace Fee

The two tracks are independent. The buyer marketplace fee goes to Depop from the buyer's side; it does not reduce what the seller receives.

Depop Profit Formula

Net Profit = Seller Net Payout − Product Cost − Packaging Cost − Return Reserve − Other Costs

Return Reserve = Seller Net Payout × (Return/Refund Reserve %)

Depop Fee Example: $25, $50 and $100 Sales

Example 1: $25 sale, $0 buyer shipping, $0 tax

  • Depop Selling Fee: $0.00 (0% for US eligible sales)
  • Payment Processing: ($25 + $0 + $0) × 3.3% + $0.45 = $0.825 + $0.45 = $1.28
  • Buyer Marketplace Fee: $25 × 5% + $1.00 = $1.25 + $1.00 = $2.25 (buyer-paid)
  • Seller Gross Receipts: $25.00
  • Seller Net Payout: $25.00 − $1.28 = $23.72
  • Buyer Total Cost: $25.00 + $2.25 = $27.25

Example 2: $50 sale, $5 buyer shipping, $0 tax

  • Depop Selling Fee: $0.00 (0% for US eligible sales)
  • Payment Processing: ($50 + $5 + $0) × 3.3% + $0.45 = $1.815 + $0.45 = $2.27
  • Buyer Marketplace Fee: $50 × 5% + $1.00 = $2.50 + $1.00 = $3.50 (buyer-paid)
  • Seller Gross Receipts: $55.00
  • Seller Net Payout: $55.00 − $2.27 = $52.73
  • Buyer Total Cost: $50 + $5 + $3.50 = $58.50

Example 3: $100 sale, $8 buyer shipping, $0 tax

  • Depop Selling Fee: $0.00 (0% for US eligible sales)
  • Payment Processing: ($100 + $8 + $0) × 3.3% + $0.45 = $3.564 + $0.45 = $4.01
  • Buyer Marketplace Fee: $100 × 5% + $1.00 = $5.00 + $1.00 = $6.00 (buyer-paid)
  • Seller Gross Receipts: $108.00
  • Seller Net Payout: $108.00 − $4.01 = $103.99
  • Buyer Total Cost: $100 + $8 + $6.00 = $114.00
